The CMYK technology is used with the retransfer print (see thermotransfer print), but first the image is placed on a retransfer film and after that on the card together with the film. Thus, high quality of the print is achieved – strong contrast colors, over-the-edge and over-the-chip-contact-station print.

It is used with designs that cannot be done with thermotransfer (direct) print and it is mainly used to print on contact and contactless smart and chip cards, where the image has to be printed closely to the chip contact station, over the edge or when saturated images have to be printed on the whole card.

This technology is used to print company cards, access control and time attendance cards, protective design cards (e.g. ID cards), as well as all other cards whose design requires this type of print.
